A Sparkly Oscar Soiree.

Even though it is rare that we have actually viewed a quarter of the movies up for Oscar nominations, we look forward to the glitzy parties and red carpet stunners each year.

If you find yourself acting as the “Hostess with the Mostess” for an Oscar party this Sunday, here are a few ideas we would incorporate into one of our own:

Ask your “VIP” guests to don red carpet-worthy threads – they’ll be strutting down the catwalk with confidence once they see you’ve rolled out a real red carpet, complete with a photog (friend or family member) capturing the poses.  Not sure where to rent a red carpet?  Lonsdale Rentals has a few on hand for such occasions!

Greet them at the door with a mini bottle of champagne on ice and have enough celeb-worthy hors d’oeuvres laid out to last until the final award has been given out.   Mimic the colours of this years Governors Ball with all red decorations, from gorgeous floral bouquets to red sparkle stars strewn about.

Some decadent menu ideas include:

  • Mini Blinis topped with Crème Fraiche & Caviar
  • Proscuitto-wrapped Figs
  • Assorted Sushi
  • Ahi Tuna on Wasabi Crackers

And don’t forget the sweets!  If time permits, you might try baking these Martha Stewart-approved cupcakes complete with little bow ties!

Recipe can be found HERE.

After the stars have made their way into Kodak Theatre and Billy Crystal has taken the stage, it’s time for the games to begin!  Hand out these Ballot Cards to each of your guests and get them to vote for their Oscar winning picks!
