No Toilet Paper Brides On Our Watch!
With every engagement comes the promise of matching bath towels, long awaited visits with out of town family members and the excitement of getting to spend the rest of your life with your soul mate. For Costco, it also means a sudden surge in the purchase of bulk toilet paper.
Covering a newly engaged bride-to-be with a custom designed “couture” Toilet Paper gown has long been a right of passing – and one that many dread the moment the engagement ring is slipped on their left hand. For this very reason, we chose to skip this somewhat stagnant tradition in favour of a chic “Boudoir-inspired” Adult Tea Party Bridal shower for a recent bride.
Upon entry to the venue, guests were transported to a classic French sitting room via the beautiful songs of such French sirens as Edith Piaff and offered one of two choices of teas in vintage tea cups – “Pink Chambord Iced Tea” and, for those DD’s in the group, “Virgin Long Island Iced Tea”. The ambiance was set by dozens of flickering tea lights and made more dramatic with a gorgeous candelabra draped in pearls. White marabou feathers were displayed, with sexy garters affixed to the neck of the glass vases.
Never one to shy away from new ideas, we incorporated one of the brides favourite treats, Jelly Belly’s, and created “French” recipes including macaroons, Café au Lait, and Tiramisu. Petit Fours and Cabernet Dark Chocolate cupcakes with Dried Cherries were also served.
The bride left with enough lingerie to get her through her honeymoon and the guests were relieved they didn’t have to create Christian Dior’s 2011 Spring / Summer bridal collection out of toilet paper.
